We, as most of the athletic community, have wondered how many Tartan Athletics are there in South Africa that competitions can be held on.

We have compiled a list of tracks that we have found all across South Africa and we are sure that you will be amazed to see where there are tracks. We must state that this list is not completed and that information on it will change as time goes on. We do however need your help and support in making this list as complete as possible. We truly feel that such a list is of great value to the South African Athletics community so that future events can be planned and marketed at venues that has been forgotten or never heard about.

This is an ideal opportunity to identify basis to do athletics development from in all of our provinces.

SUBMISSION/AMENDMEND FORM FOR A TARTAN TRACK IN SOUTH AFRICA

For grading a track we look at the following parameters:

• Track condition
• Equipment condition
• Spectator seating and amenities
• Accessibility for athletes and spectators
• Track aesthetics

Each of the aforementioned has subcategories that scores out of ten and gives you a grand total for each category and then a final score in total. That score is then processed and stars are given to a track.

If you want to be part of grading a track, please get in contact with us so that we can provide you with the information and requirements for grading. It is of the utmost importance that you know that at least four people has to be involved in grading the track. This is to ensure that we get greater input and true measurements. The more people are involved, the better the final result will be. The amount of people, not the names of the people, that graded the track will also be mentioned next to the stars in a number.

Please note that this grading standard is our own grading standard and is independent from the IAAF and ASA.
